Training

Virginia offers training either through her practice or through the University of York.  At the University of York most training courses are open to all interested professionals.   A few training courses are for specialist advanced training of play therapists.  See www.york.ac.uk/depts/spsw/pt for details of current short training courses and training to qualification level in play therapy.

Virginia is a Certified Filial Therapy Instructor.  She has completed a training programme with Dr Rise VanFleet, a leading international expert in Filial Therapy, at the Family Enhancement and Play Therapy Center, Boiling Springs, PA, USA for this qualification.  Virginia is able to offer filial therapy training at basic and intensive levels.

Virginia will be pleased to design training programmes for professionals based on the needs of their staff and the services they offer to children and families.  She has offered training in understanding children’s attachment needs, how to communicate with children, children as witnesses for the Court, working with children who have special needs (e g developmental delays, learning difficulties), helping parents develop effective parenting skills, using play in working as an educational psychologist, working with children in residential care and other related topics.  Please contact Virginia for detailed training programme estimates.
